What is Gleaning?

Gleaning is an old fashioned word that means harvesting leftover fruits and vegetables from a farm or garden.

Why Glean?

Here in Clallam County almost 15% of residents don't have enough to eat. As a gleaning volunteer, you can help get fresh fruits and vegetables to places they are needed most, like food banks, senior centers, the Boys and Girls Club and Homelessness Resource Centers. You can also take fresh produce home for yourself and your friends and family. Being a gleaner is a great way to save money, stock your pantry, help out community members in need, and prevent the waste of perfectly good food.
